Amy Stark is a Digital Communications Designer with a passion for teaching others how to leverage the awesome power of new media. She received her BA in Philosophy, worked 20 years in sales and marketing, then returned to school to get her MA in Philanthropic Studies. In 2009 Amy founded the Inaugural “#Indiana Social Media Summit” – a collaborative peer review process among Indiana’s social media elite. She also Co-founded the Social Media Dames Unconference — educational events where women exchange wisdom about using new media for a career path AND as a way to make the world a better place. Described by others as a “social media architect,” “viral-marketing guru,” and “The Twitter Empress of Indiana,” Amy is an accomplished author, logician, public-speaker, Internet geek, arts-lover and mom.
EDUCATION AND RESEARCH
Amy has a B.A. in Philosophy from Loras College, a M.A. in Philanthropic Studies from the Center on Philanthropy from Indiana University, and a passion for digital communications. She has written several research / white papers on the Internet’s history, public policies and its affect on civil – and not so civil – societies.
In October 2008 Amy began ethnographic research on twitter which prompted her to launch The Great #Indiana Initiative of Aught Nine (January 2009) in order to help Indiana remain relevant in the 21st century.

Amy’s unique combination of traditional PR/Marketing skills, Internet infrastructure public policy expertise, and social media acumen gives her the ability to design comprehensive communication plans that will help organizations remain viable in the 21st century.
